Strengthening the not-for-profit sector.
The Australian Scholarships Foundation (ASF) works to strengthen the not-for-profit sector by providing access to and training opportunities for people working in not-for-profit organisations.
Because they run so leanly, most not-for-profit organisations simply don’t have the funds to provide professional development for their people, and donors are reluctant to have their money go into administration costs. Yet a strong organisation with well-skilled people will be better able to assist their beneficiaries.
Since 2008, ASF has provided access to nearly $4 million of education and training scholarships for the not-for-profit sector, including short courses, postgraduate courses and mentoring programs in the areas of leadership, management and governance.

Thanks to funding from the Origin Foundation, ASF has been able to provide $1.1m in professional development scholarships for employees of not-for-profit organisations.
We have also provided funding for the My Scholarships Resource Centre which is a listing of all scholarships available to the NFP sector.
In partnership with ASF we provide the Fulbright Professional Scholarship for Non-Profit Leadership and are working to determine the effectiveness of training and development in the not-for-profit sector, together with the Centre for Social Impact.
